Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Mdm. Sun Baohong attended the grand finale of the first "Newsroom" contest and delivered a speech

On 1 December 2015, at the invitation of Cheetah Communications Limited, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Mdm. Sun Baohong attended the grand finale of the first "Newsroom" contest and delivered a speech. Around 100 people including the former Chairman of the National Media Commission (NMC) H.E. Mr. Kabral Blay-Amihere, veteran media experts, teachers and students from the competing tertiary institutions in Ghana took part in the finale.

Ambassador Sun gave a brief introduction of the fruitful achievements of China-Ghana cooperation in various areas during the past 55 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties, and the contribution China has made to youth development and the education sector of Ghana. She expected the students of communications major to carry forward the good tradition of Ghana media, seize the opportunity of the fast development of the communication sector of Ghana, study hard and practice their skills to make full use of their talents in the future. Ambassador Sun also encouraged the students to adhere to the ethnic code of the journalism, spread social positive energy, strengthen cooperation between the communication sectors in China and Ghana, carry forward China-Ghana traditional friendship and promote the development of China-Ghana relations.

Ambassador Sun's speech has received warm applause from the audience. After intense competition, the Ghana Institute of Journalism won the champion in the first "Newsroom" Contest.

"Newsroom" contest is organized by the Cheetah Communications Limited of Ghana with the aim of strengthening capacity building of the students of communications major in Ghana. Students from 5 tertiary institutions with communications major attended this contest.
