Chinese Ambassador Attended the Quiz Final Celebrating the 55th Anniversary of the Establishment of China-Ghana Diplomatic Relations and the Forthcoming Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Johannesburg Summit

On October 31st 2015, sponsored by the Confucius Institutes Headquarters in China, and cohosted by the Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana and the Chinese Embassy in Ghana, the Quiz Final Celebrating the 55th Anniversary of the Establishment of China-Ghana Diplomatic Relations and the Forthcoming Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Johannesburg Summit was held at the Aviation Social Center in Accra, Ghana. H.E. Mdm. Sun Baohong, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Hon. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman, Minister of Education of Ghana, Dr Mei Meilian, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana, and Amb. Kojo-Amoo Gottfried, President of Ghana-China Friendship Association (GHACHIFA) were present at the quiz final.

In her speech, Ambassador Sun expressed sincere gratitude to the Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana, as well as the teachers and students who have done so much work to make the event happen, and wished all the contestants a good performance. Ambassador Sun hoped more and more people will know about China, Ghana and Africa through this quiz, more and more people will know about the history of the development of the China-Ghana and China-Africa relations and bountiful cooperation achievements in various fields, and more and more people will know about China’s policies towards Africa. She wished all the contestants would take a more active part in the cause of China-Ghana and China-Africa friendship in the future.

Honorable Minister Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman said mutual understanding is the base for cooperation. Only by increasing the mutual cognition and understanding of the national conditions of the two countries, can the Ghana-China friendship live long and the Ghana-China cooperation develop constantly, delivering more benefits to the Ghanaian and Chinese people.

The Quiz Celebrating the 55th Anniversary of the Establishment of China-Ghana Diplomatic Relations and the forthcoming Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Johannesburg Summit is constituted by a primary and a final. The primary was held in the Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana on October 24th 2015, from which 10 Chinese contestants and 10 Ghanaian were selected to form 10 teams of China-Ghana contesting partners. These 10 teams answered questions in the final concerning the national conditions of the two countries, and the bilateral political, economic, cultural and people-to-people exchanges between China and Ghana as well as the relations between China and Africa. The competition was heated while the audience got quite excited. Ambassador Sun and Honorable Minister Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman watched the contest from the beginning to the end, and presented awards to the winners.
