Chinese Embassy in Ghana Held National Day Reception and Chinese Acrobatic Show

On September 15th 2015, Chinese Embassy in Ghana held National Day Reception and the Chinese Acrobatic Show at the National Theatre of Ghana to celebrate the sixty-sixth anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the fifty-fifth anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and Ghana. Speaker of the Parliament of Ghana, Right Honorable Edward Korbly Doe Adjaho, Minister of Health, Honorable Alexander Segbefia, Minister of Education, Honorable Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman, Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Honorable Nii Osah Mills, Minister of Trade and Industry, Honorable Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, Mninister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Honorable Sherry Hanny Ayittey, Secretary to Cabinet, Honorable Roger Angsomwine, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Honorable Dzifa Gomashie, Minister of the Great Accra Region, Honorable Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, Deputy Minister of the Great Accra Region, Honorable Isaac Nii Djanmah Vanderpuye, Ghanaian Ambassador to China, H.E. Mr. Anani Okuminyi Demuyakor as well as other Ghanaian government officials, members of Parliament, traditional leaders, heads of diplomatic missions, representatives of Chinese enterprises and overseas Chinese community attended the Reception or watched the Acrobatic Show. The total number of audience amounted to over 1200, an unprecedented historical record. Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Mdm. Sun Baohong and the representative of the Government of Ghana, Honorable Alexander Segbefia, Minister of Health addressed the Reception.

In her speech, Ambassador Sun briefly reviewed the ongoing reforms and great achievements made in the political, economic and diplomatic fronts by China since the convening of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, under central leadership of CPC Central Committee with H.E. Mr. Xi Jinping as its General Secretary and guided by the strategic layout of “Four Comprehensives”. She emphasized that China’s interactions with the international community have become closer than ever before, with China being of tremendous catalyst in propelling the growth of the global economy. China is confident that she will continue her glorious track record of development, and make new contributions to the world.

Ambassador Sun said, over the past 55 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Ghana, the bilateral cooperation has continuously made laudable achievements with concerted efforts of both sides. The two countries have maintained frequent high-level exchanges; the cooperation on economy and trade has kept good momentum of development and yielded bountiful results; the people-to-people exchanges are ever-increasing and mutual understanding ever-deepening; the cultural exchanges between China and Ghana take various forms with rich contents. In addition, the Fujian Acrobatic Troupe will offer the Ghanaian audience a feast of culture tonight.

Ambassador Sun said, China and Africa are trustworthy friends and honest partners forever. China’s development poses an opportunity for Africa. China welcomes Africa to board the high-speed train of China’s growth. China has put forward the guideline on China’s relations with Africa featuring sincerity, real results, affinity and good faith, has advocated a more balanced approach in upholding justice and pursuing interests, has pushed forward the strategy of “Three Major Networks” and industrialization in Africa, and has actively promoted cooperation on international production capacity and equipment manufacturing with African countries. In December this year, the Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation will be held in South Africa, injecting new impetus into China-Africa cooperation. Working together with Ghana and Africa, China wishes to promote the realization of the world dream of sustained peace and common prosperity.

On behalf of Ghanaian President H.E. Mr. John Dramani Mahama, the Ghanaian government and people, Minister of Health, Honorable Alexander Segbefia extended congratulations to Chinese President Mr. Xi Jinping, the Chinese government and people on this festive occasion. He spoke highly of the brilliant achievements made by China in national development since the founding of the People's Republic of China and especially since the reform and opening-up in the late 1970s. He said, China has been the driving force for the global economic development, and within the spirit of south-south cooperation, has been extending generous support to Africa and Ghana. Ghana-China relations are on equal footing and of mutual benefits, characterized by mutual respect and trust. He wished that the two countries would pool resources together for common development in order to meet the expectations of the two peoples.

The Reception was overwhelmed by warm and joyful atmosphere. The picture exhibition themed “Celebrating the sixty-sixth anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the fifty-fifth anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and Ghana” attracted close attention of many guests. The hosts and guests proposed toast to China's prosperity and strength, and to the lasting friendship of China and Ghana.

After the reception, the Fujian Acrobatic Troupe put up a rich and wonderful show for all the guests at the National Theatre. The Chinese actors’ unbelievable skills were breathtaking while the Ghanaian elements integrated in the show such as the Ghanaian male host, the dance performed by Ghana National Dance Company, and Ghanaian songs sung by a Chinese singer living in Ghana added constant brilliance to the show, bringing climax after climax with the audience applauding repeatedly. After the show, Ambassador Sun, Speaker Edward Adjaho, as well as ministers and representatives of overseas Chinese community took a group photo with all the performers on the stage, congratulating on the big success of the reception and the show. Ghanaian audience kept singing high praises of the wonderful show, and was loath to depart. The national theatre was packed to capacity and ablaze with China red in a joyous and festive atmosphere.
