On 6 July 2016, at the invitation of Enactus Ghana, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Mdm. Sun Baohong attended the Final of National Competition of Enactus Ghana 2016 and delivered a speech titled "Understand China Through Its Innovation". Around 300 people including Members of Board of Directors of Enactus Ghana, and Enactus teams from tertiary institutions of Ghana took part in the final.
Ambassador Sun indicated that the spirit of innovation that Enactus wishes to nurture is the most valuable wealth in the contemporary era and a good tradition of the Chinese nation. At present, China is simultaneously dealing with the slowdown in economic growth, making difficult structural adjustments, and absorbing the effects of previous economic stimulus policies. And, China is at a historic moment that a new technological and industrial revolution is in full swing. Comprehensive innovation is the only road to China's development. China positioned the innovation-driven development strategy as a national strategy, put innovation at the core of national development, and initiated a lot of innovations on ideologies, institutions, policies and sci-tech, achieving remarkable results.
Ambassador Sun said that against the backdrop of sluggish recovery of global economy and constant downward pressure, the global community needs to break a new path for global economic development through innovation. China is fully preparing for the G20 Hangzhou Summit slated for this September. China chooses "Toward an Innovative, Invigorated, Interconnected and Inclusive World Economy" as the theme of the Summit, lists "breaking a new path for growth" as a main item on the agenda, and is working with all sides to deliver ten major outcomes including "work out a blue print for innovative-driven growth" etc. All these fully demonstrate the sense of responsibility of a major power. Ambassador Sun encouraged Ghanaian young students to devote them to starting business and innovation, and make contributions to the development of Ghana.
Ambassador Sun's speech received warm applause from the audience. The Enactus team from the University of Ghana came out as the champion after fierce competition and was thereby qualified to take part in 2016 Canada Enactus World Cup.
