On 2 May 2016, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Mdm. Sun Baohong attended the China-Africa Seminar Series of China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) and delivered a keynote speech on the topic of "the Belt and Road". About 100 plus people, including Vice President and Dean of CEIBS Prof. Ding Yuan, CEIBS Africa Executive Director Prof. Mathew Tsamenyi, CEIBS alumni, representatives from Chinese and Ghanaian enterprises as well as media friends, attended the Seminar.
Ambassador Sun reviewed the historical background and development process of "the Belt and Road", indicated that "the Belt and Road" is China's grand strategy to promote the modernization construction, deepen opening to the outside world and realize the great Chinese Dream. It is also a road towards peace and friendship by driving world economic growth, achieving win-win cooperation and providing international public goods. She pointed out that "the Belt and Road" brings opportunities for African countries which may come only once in a blue moon. She hoped the Chinese enterprises could explore the African market to promote the combination of African demand with Chinese technology and equipment, and further increase investment in the areas such as energy, manufacturing, housing, agro-product processing and infrastructure.
In the Q&A session, the audience actively raised the questions such as "how to achieve win-win cooperation between China and Ghana", "how could Ghana make full use of its advantages to conduct cooperation with China" and "how to handle the major issues encountered in the China-Ghana relations". By providing rich figures of statistics and vivid cases, Ambassador Sun introduced the fast developing momentum of China-Ghana relations and China's great contributions to Ghana's national interest and Ghanaian people's livelihood, which won rounds of applause from the audience.
