Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Mdm. Sun Baohong Awarded the Chinese Ambassador Scholarship to Outstanding Ghanaian Students

From 18th November to 27th November 2015, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Mdm. Sun Baohong awarded the Chinese Ambassador Scholarship to 58 outstanding Ghanaian students learning Chinese from University of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, University of Wisconsin and University of Cape Coast as well as donated stationeries and books to the universities.

Ambassador Sun said at the awards ceremony that Chinese is one of the most beautiful languages, Chinese culture is one of the most glorious cultures and China is one of the greatest nations in the world. She is glad to see more and more Ghanaian students learning Chinese and have achieved excellent results. Ambassador Sun also briefed the audiences the recent achievements of China-Ghana cooperation in various fields and the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, which will be held in South Africa early this December. She encouraged the award-winning students to study hard, practice more, get prepared to make contributions to the country's economic transformation and national rejuvenation and strive to be "ambassadors" of China-Ghana friendship.

The four university authorities all expressed their gratitude for the great support rendered by the Chinese Embassy in Ghana for Chinese language teaching in Ghana and the works of the university. They said with the growing influence of China in the world, Chinese has become a contemporary global language. They will encourage the Ghanaian students to learn Chinese assiduously, lay a solid language foundation, and seek opportunities to continue their education in China to learn the advanced development experience of China, so as to make contributions to the economic and social construction of Ghana.

Award-winning students said, wining Chinese ambassador scholarship is a huge affirmation of their achievements in learning Chinese, which inspires their enthusiasm to understand China and learn Chinese and enhances their personal emotional bond with China. They wish that their association with China could help change their personal destiny and they are willing to make personal contributions to the development of China-Ghana friendly relations.

At the awards ceremony, the award-winning students presented brilliant performances such as Chinese impromptu speech, Chinese songs and kung Fu, which won warm applause from the audiences.
