Chinese Enterprise Helps Ghana Realize Industrialization

On February 27th, on behalf of Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Shi Ting Wang, Counselor Zhu Jing, Charg d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Ghana attended the inauguration ceremony of the Sentuo Ceramics Factory and delivered a speech. More than 1000 people attended the ceremony including President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufu-Addo, Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Ishmael Ashitey, Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Robert Ahomka-Lindsay, Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Hon. Freddie Blay, and local traditional leaders, community members, representatives of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Chinese communities in Ghana.

In his speech, President Akufo-Addo happily recalled his visit to China and attendance to the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in September 2018. He thanked the Chinese government and people for the positive contributions to the development of Ghana. He believed that Sentuo Ceramics Factory injected new impetus into Ghana’s industrialization process and is another strong evidence of the friendly cooperation between the two countries. Ghana welcomes more Chinese companies to invest and set up factories. He looks forward to tightening bilateral relations and benefiting people of the two countries through more mutually beneficial cooperation.

Charg d'affaires Zhu Jing, on behalf of Ambassador Shi Ting Wang, thanked President Akufo-Addo for attending the inauguration ceremony of the Sentuo Ceramics Factory. He said that Sentuo Group is an important force for Chinese companies to invest in Ghana. The ceramics plant project is another important contribution of the company to the industrialization of Ghana and the latest achievement under the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. The Chinese side highly appraised and actively supported the development initiatives such as “One District, One Factory”, “One Village and One Dam” and “Ghana beyond aid”. The Chinese Embassy in Ghana will continue to promote more Chinese companies to invest in Ghana and make new contributions to the economic and social development of Ghana based on the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries in September last year and the “Eight Initiatives” of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

The Sentuo Ceramics Factory is located in Tema, Greater Accra Region, Ghana with an investment of nearly US$80 million. It will create approximately 5,000 jobs for the area.
