Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Mdm. Sun Baohong Met with Mayor of Accra

On 12th July 2017, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Mdm. Sun Baohong met with Hon. Adjei Sowah, Mayor of Accra, Capital City of Ghana. Both sides exchanged views on China-Ghana relations as well as exchanges and cooperation of sister city.

Mayor Sowah thanked Ambassador Sun for the meeting and expressed his appreciation for the outcomes reached by H.E. Vice President Bawumia during his recent visit to China. Mayor Sowah indicated that Accra, as the capital of Ghana, is facing many challenges in urban management. Accra Metropolitan Assembly will take advantage of the Vice President’s visit to China to further deepen the sister-city relationship with City of Shenzhen, closely enhance bilateral exchanges, and actively learn from China's advanced experience and practices, and carry out cooperation with China in areas of human resources, smart city and urban management to achieve mutual benefit and win-win cooperation, promote urban transformation and benefit the people of Accra.

Ambassador Sun congratulated Hon. Sowah on his assumption of office as Mayor of Accra and highly appreciated the accomplishments of Accra Metropolitan Assembly in urban infrastructure and sanitation in recent years. Ambassador Sun indicated that China-Ghana relations have a long-standing history. Ghana's founding president Nkrumah had profound revolutionary friendship with leaders of China. The New Patriotic Party government is committed to developing relations with China since it took office. The cooperation between the two countries has gained a stronger momentum recently. Ambassador Sun hoped that the city of Accra would learn from the successful experience of the City of Shenzhen and make new breakthroughs in urban construction and management.
