Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Mdm. Sun Baohong met with the Ambassador-designate of the Republic of Ghana to China

On 12th May, 2017, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Mdm. Sun Baohong met with Mr. Edward Boateng, the Ambassador-designate of the Republic of Ghana to China, and exchanged views on China-Ghana relations and bilateral cooperation.

Ambassador Sun extended congratulations to Mr. Boateng as the incoming Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana to China, and introduced the latest progress of China-Ghana relations and cooperation in various fields. Sun said that China and Ghana relations enjoy a profound traditional friendship and a long-term steady development. The two countries have maintained close communications and shared broad prospects of cooperation since the new Ghanaian government came into power. China attaches great importance to the development of China-Ghana relations, and stands ready to work with the Ghanaian side to strengthen collaboration for further promoting all-round bilateral cooperation, solve the illegal mining problems properly, and continuously upgrade bilateral ties.

Ambassador-designate Boateng expressed gratitude to Ambassador Sun’s introduction, and spoke highly of the contributions China has made to Ghana’s development. Ambassador-designate Boateng said that Ghana’s development cannot be detached from the support of China. It is of vital importance to maintain and develop the Ghana-China relations. Some media are capitalizing the illegal mining problem to defame the Ghana-China relations which is incorrect. He stressed that the Ghanaian side is willing to enhance communication and collaboration with the Chinese side in the areas of industrial capacity cooperation, infrastructural construction, and cultural and educational exchanges, and advance the bilateral relations to a new stage with concrete cooperation achievements.
