Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Mdm. Sun Baohong visited the Ashanti Region (Ⅴ)

On 17 February, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Sun Baohong paid a call on the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu Ⅱ.

Ambassador Sun briefed the Asantehene on the program of her visit to the Ashanti Region and the latest development of China-Ghana relations and cooperation. Ambassador Sun said that China-Ghana relations have maintained the sound momentum of development and scored fruitful achievements in various cooperation. China-Ghana trade volume, the value of China’s signed contracts, as well as China’s investment to Ghana are all ranking high in China-Africa cooperation. The two sides should take the opportunity of the coming on board of the new administration, set up a clear framework of cooperation, identify key areas of cooperation and projects and implement them as soon as possible to get early harvest and benefit the two peoples. Ambassador Sun wished that the Asantehene could use his personnel influence to further promote the development of China-Ghana relations.

Warmly welcoming the visit of Ambassador Sun and her entourage, the Asantehene highly commended China’s long-term support to Ghana’s development. The King said that China and Ghana enjoy deep traditional friendship and fruitful cooperation. Ghana has reaped tons of benefits from China’s development. The new government of Ghana is devoted to developing economy, creating jobs and improving people’s livelihoods, and needs the support from the Chinese friends. He hoped that China can continue to support the Ghanaian side on key areas such as agriculture, financing, oil and gas development etc, bring into being more projects in Kumasi, transfer its technology to Ghana vigorously and realize win-win results.
